FUS Rabat of Morocco defeated Rivers United 2-1 on Friday to send the Nigerian side out of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The first forty-five minutes saw the visitors play with a sense of purpose and determination which paid off when Bolaji Sarkin got United ahead in the 44th minute.
But two second half goals from the hosts stopped Rivers United from advancing into the quarterfinal stage of the competition.
El Gnaoui caught United’s defense napping in the 52nd minute to level up for FUS Rabat.

Mohammed Fouz Aur converted from the spot for the home side’s second goal in the 88th minute.
Rivers United finished bottom of the group with 6 points while Club Africain and FUS Rabat qualified for the knockout stage.
