Rivers United defeated visiting Rayon Sports of Rwanda 2-0 in the first leg 2017 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
The match was played in Port Harcourt
Emeka Atuloma volleyed home from Ifeanyi Nweke’s cross in the 28th minute to secure the first goal for the Nigerian side.
Rivers United continued to press the visitors for more goals but were unable to add to their solitary lead in the first half.

But a half volley shot from Guy Kueman doubled the goal in the 51st minute.
Rivers United will face Rayon in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, on April 22.
Enugu Rangers, Nigeria’s other representative in the CAF Confederation Cup were dumped out of the competition after losing 3-0 in their second leg tie against Zesco United of Zambia on Saturday.

Zesco progressed into the group stage 5-2 on aggregate.
