Rivers United defeated 10-man KCCA of Uganda in a CAF Confederation Cup match at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
Early goals from Bernard Ovoke and Fredrick Obomate put Rivers United on the front foot.
Geoffrey Serunkuma reduced the hosts’ goal tally on the stroke of half-time.
KCCA’s Habib Kavuma was sent off for a second yellow card in the 89th minute – making it difficult for the visitors to muster a comeback.

The 2-1 win sees Nigeria’s remaining representative on the continent move to the second position in Group A.
United will remain second if Club Africain fail to secure maximum points against FUS Rabat later on Tuesday.
The Port Harcourt-based team will face Club Africain at home on July 2.
