RMD ‘The Great Man’ – maybe the greatest – of Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actor and Delta state commissioner for arts and culture, Richard Mofe Damijo, is set to be honoured at the 4th Nollywood Film Festival scheduled to hold on August 27, 2014.

At the three-day event in Asaba, which will end on August 30, RMD will be conferred with the title of Dike oha na Nollywood, meaning ‘Great Man in Nollywood.

According to founder of the festival, Nze Harris Chuma,he is being honoured for his “invaluable contributions to Nigerian film industry”.

According to Chuma, the festival is designed to “help filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema, and promote Asaba city in Delta state as a major film making centre.”

RMD hit the limelight after his performance in the 1983 TV soap opera, Ripples.

Since then, he has acted in several Nollywood movies and produced some. He is best remembered for movies such as Violated, Out of Bounds, Heart of a father, Critical Assignment and so many more.
