As the rockets and missiles are firing in Israel and Gaza Strip, Nigeria and Bnei Yehuda of Israel goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba says the security situation is scary and is forcing him to reconsider his future in the country.
Aiyenugba says even though he’s safe at present in Tel-Aviv, where he is based — a distance of 71 kilometers from Gaza — he is concerned about his long-term safety if the situation escalates.
“It is a very scary situation at the moment and I am very concerned. The Israeli military have got things under control at the moment, but I’m not sure what tomorrow might [bring],” he told SL10.
The former Enyimba of Aba shot stopper has been in Israel since 2007, but he has admitted that the present situation calls for serious concern.

“I can’t act like nothing is happening because I’m very concerned and I think everybody should, too.”
His club will continue their pre-season training with a trip to Holland this weekend, and Aiyenugba feels the trip is a welcome distraction that will help them focus on the new season.
“It’s a good thing we’re going to Holland for the final phase of our pre-season training,” he said.

“It will give us that needed distraction and also put us in shape for the new season. It’s going to be tough and we hope to compete effectively.”
The Israeli season kicks off in August.
