Genort Rohr has been appointed by the Burkinabe Football Federation as coach of the national team beating the out-of-contract Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi to the job.
Keshi was rumoured to be favourites to bag the job and he had outlined his plans for the Stallions if offered the position vacated by Paul Put.
But it wasn’t meant to be as the country’s football federation preferred Rohr.
Keshi may now have to look inward and commit himself to a new deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The federation’s president had earlier said that Keshi can continue as Eagles coach saying “we have given him the contract, if he agrees and signs it, then he is ready to roll”.
Rohr’s first taste of African football was in 2008 when he was appointed by Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel. He was sacked in May, 2009 following a third place finish in the league, outside of the 2010 CAF Champions League places.
In June 2009, he was named as the new head coach of the Ligue 2 team FC Nantes, his contract running till 30 June 2011. He didn’t last till then as he was fired on December 3, 2009.

In 2010, he took charge of the national team of Gabon, replacing Alain Giresse.
The Franco-German’s tenure with the Panthers lasted until after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and then he took over at Niger until October 2014 when he resigned.
