Rohr: Moses’ retirement from international football premature

Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles technical adviser, says Victor Moses must decide on his own if he wants to return to the team.

Rohr said he is willing to welcome Moses back to the team provided he is ready to give 100 percent.

“If he changes his mind, we will welcome him but he has to find that motivation within himself to come back and be ready to give his 100 percent at all time as we know he can,” Rohr said.

“Victor Moses is a very good player for Nigeria.”

Rohr said the Chelsea winger’s retirement from international football in August 2018 was a premature move.

The gaffer, however, said the 28-year-old player’s wish must be respected.

“I believe it was too early for such a good player to stop international football when he did but we have to respect his decisions,” he said.

“Then of course, it is important that he gets back to playing regularly at his club and get his sharpness back.”

Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is expected to meet with Moses to discuss his possible return to international football.

Pinnick has said the return of Moses is crucial ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
