Mitt Romney, the Republican party candidate for the 2012 presidential election in the US, says Donald Trump, the party’s front runner for 2017, is poised to lead the country into recession.
Speaking at the University of Utah on Thursday, Romney said the multi-billionaire is no business success but a fraud.
“If Donald Trump’s plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into a prolonged recession,” he said.
“His proposed 35% tariff-like penalties would instigate a trade war that would raise prices for consumers, kill export jobs, and lead entrepreneurs and businesses to flee America.

“His tax plan, in combination with his refusal to reform entitlements and to honestly address spending, would balloon the deficit and the national debt.”
Addressing Trump’s apparent business success, Romney said he inherited his business, as he didn’t create it
“But wait, you say, isn’t he a huge business success that knows what he’s talking about? No he isn’t. His bankruptcies have crushed small businesses and the men and women who worked for them.

“He inherited his business, he didn’t create it. And what ever happened to Trump Airlines? How about Trump University? And then there’s Trump Magazine and Trump Vodka and Trump Steaks, and Trump Mortgage? A business genius he is not.”
He emphasized his support for any of the top Republican candidate but Trump, adding that he lacks the temperament and judgment to be president.
As expected, Trump doled out a quick response:
I am the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton. I am not a Mitt Romney, who doesn't know how to win. Hillary wants no part of "Trump"
