Salah, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Messi shortlisted for FIFA best player award

The nominees for the Best FIFA men’s player of the year award were unveiled on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were again nominated for the award.

The shortlist also includes Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

Brazil’s Neymar, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane make up the remainder of the shortlist.

Ronaldo won the first two editions of the Best FIFA men’s player of the year award which was launched in 2016.

The 2018 award ceremony is scheduled for September 24.

The shortlist will be pruned to three nominees a few weeks before the award.

The other categories where trophies will be awarded include FIFA Fair Play Award, the FIFA Puskas Award, the FIFA Fan Award, the Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award and the FIFA FIFPro World 11.
