Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina on Saturday to win the 2023 Australia Open women’s singles title.
The 24-year-old claimed victory in the three-set game against her opponent at the Rod Laver Arena.

The Belarusian was crowned the new champion following a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Rybakina, who is the first player to take a set off Sabalenka this year, won the opening set 6-4.

Sabalenka found her way back to win the second set 6-3 and claim the third.
The match which lasted 2hrs 28mins saw Sabalenka make nine unforced errors to Rybakina’s 13.
Sabalenka has now set a record of 4-0 against Rybakina — Wimbledon(2021), Abu Dhabi (2021), Wuhan (2019) and Australia (2023).
The Belarusian has all won all 21 sets she has contested so far this season.

Courtesy of her triumph at the 111th edition of the Australian Open, she is expected to become the No.2 ranked player.
