Sadly, Tinubu is doing well

If you ask me, I think the president is doing everything within his powers to shame me.

His decisiveness and seeming sense of purpose continue to tug at my credibility with the strength of a mule.

Never have a president since Chief Obasanjo has shown this incredible insights and pure clarity as to his vision and drive.

In less than 60 days, he has removed fuel subsidy, something that has defied presidents, even the strong-willed Obasanjo. He has finally demystified the NLC, giving it its final death blow, suspended, and arrested what can be described as the most corrupt and useless CBN Governor in the history of the position.

Just as I was going to bed, he signed the historic Student Loan initiative. Something people like the brilliant Magnus Onyibe has been canvassing as a panacea to the crises of tertiary education in the country.

The setting up of the Education Bank will feed into my pet vision of turning Nigeria into a net exporter of human capital with its attendant benefits of technology transfer, diaspora receipts, amongst others

The reason why Tinubu is trying to shame me is very obvious. I had joined millions of Nigerians to rail and fight against his dubious candidacy.

He came with a baggage far bigger than King Nebudchadnesser. He was colorless with odious credentials, and we all screamed.

Them the electoral process smelt like a pit latrine from Bariga. It bumbled from one scandal to the other.

From the fake bishops to the Muslim-Muslim ticket to his wobbly speeches and the thuggery that we witnessed in various states, including Lagos.

The elections are being contested by all parties involved, and evidence of malfeasance are all there for any imbecile to see.

Then, Usman warned me. Edgar, I don’t care if Tinubu stole the mandate. He will work. He is the best candidate.

I looked at the young entrepreneur and with the wisdom of an older man I said, Usman even if he brings garden of Eden I will never agree… let him first sue that Hundeyin boy and I will know he has nothing to hide.

But today, Tinubu is impressing the very worst of his critics. He is moving very steadily and gaining momentum. His speech during June 12 celebrations was a watershed and shocking

Shocking because his predecessor had gotten us used to boring and toot pick depicting speeches that sounded like he preferred milking his cows than speaking to the people he was terrorizing with uncommon incompetence

Already Fuel is now at N500 and the sky has not fallen, NLC have shamefully run back to their huts, daily consumption of fuel has dropped by over 60% throwing up the scam that the whole thing was, neighboring countries are feeling the pinch and the price of cooking gas is on a free fall. Even the Naira strengthened at some point.

My people, are we looking at the end justifying the means? Is Tinubu staring me in the face and taunting me with his performance? Is he asking me to be a man and stand out and say sorry, Sir?

Cos truth be told, tension has dropped, and we are now seeing the kind of leadership we last saw with OBJ and have even forgotten what it means to be led by a leader with sense.

If Tinubu sustains the momentum and there is nothing in the horizon that says he will not, we just might be witnessing the dawn of a new era

I’ll hold my apologies however, till after the court cases and if he wins, and continues with this steady pace then we just might say Mr Tinubu please accept my most sincere apology and long may you reign.

Till then, make we dey watch.
