Salah beats Moses, Mane to emerge BBC African footballer of the year

Liverpool FC forward, Mohammed Salah, has won the 2017 BBC African footballer of the year award.

Salah, who was nominated for the first time, beat fellow Liverpool colleague Sadio Mane to win the award.

The Egyptian joined Liverpool from Roma in June. His impressive start earned him the player of the month award in August and September.

Salah’s superb start in England was a continuation of his fine form in Italy, where the diminutive player was a key figure in Roma’s best league campaign in seven years.

He becomes the first Egyptian player to win the award after the legendary Mohamed Aboutrika in 2008.

Salah won the award over teammate Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund), Naby Keita (RB Leipzig), and Victor Moses (Chelsea).
