Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool won 6-1 at Leeds United in their English Premier League (EPL) clash at Elland Road on Monday night.

The Egyptian striker who has endured a mixed season — by his standards — alongside his Liverpool side, scored once in each half as the Reds claimed only their second league win away from home in 2023.

Diogo Jota also scored a brace, with Cody Gapko and Darwin Nunez opening and closing the floodgate of goals, respectively.

Two quickfire goals in four minutes late in the first half set Liverpool on their way; Gapko tapping in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross on 35 minutes before Salah scored his first of the night with a well-executed first-time shot that flew past Illan Messier in Leeds goal.

The home side halved the deficit two minutes into the second half following Ibrahima Konate’s mistake that gifted Luis Sinistera an opportunity he took expertly.

But talk of a comeback was quickly dashed by Jota five minutes later.

The Portuguese forward capitalised on a defensive mix-up to finish with aplomb before Salah made it four from Virgil van Dijk’s lay-off.

Jota extended the lead further with a bouncing shot from 20 yards to complete a flowing team move before Nunez finished off Leeds on 90 minutes.

It is Liverpool’s first league win since walloping Man United 7-0 in March.

Liverpool now have 49 points from 30 matches, while Leeds, despite consecutive heavy defeats, stay 16th on the log, two points away from a relegation place.
