Sam Adeyemi, the strategic leadership consultant, has advised politicians to be intentional about providing effective governance.
Speaking on Saturday at the SHIFT Leadership Conference in Lagos, Adeyemi emphasised that purposeful leadership is key to transforming the lives of citizens.
He stressed the importance of leaders taking deliberate steps to address Nigeria’s challenges.
“So the big question is, can we be a bit more intentional? Can we provide the leadership that this country needs, that our nations need,” Adeyemi said.

He also called on professionals in the media, education, and entertainment sectors to be mindful of the messages they share, as these play a crucial role in shaping public perception.
Adeyemi encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and courageous in their aspirations for a better country, despite prevailing difficulties.
He further advised individuals to cultivate a people-centric approach to leadership, urging them to shift their focus from personal gain to positively impacting others.

“Can we be more intentional about shaping what people see and hear consistently every single day? In the next few decades I want to ask that you be courageous enough to dream. Dreams are made of unrealistic stuff. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” he said.
“I want to encourage us today because sometimes when you’ve been through difficult times, when you see all the obstacles and limitations around, it actually takes courage for you to even dare to dream. I challenge us to dare to dream of a better tomorrow.
“Build your influence; care for people; take the attention away from yourself; focus it on other people. Leadership is people-centric.”
The SHIFT conference featured several high-profile speakers, including Ibukun Awosika, former chair of First Bank; Gabriel Ogbechie, CEO of Rainoil Limited; and Cedric Nash, a US-based real estate entrepreneur, who shared their leadership experiences.
