Sani Ahmad, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara state, is dead.
He reportedly died on Wednesday in Gusau, the Zamfara capital, “after a brief illness”.
Confirming the development to NAN, Mukhtar Lugga, deputy PDP chairman in Zamfara, said the late Ahmad suddenly took ill after a consultative meeting with the state council of ulama in Gusau.
Lugga said Ahmad was confirmed dead by doctors after he was taken to the Al-Hilal Hospital in Gusau.

Aged 62, he is survived by two wives and six children.
According to NAN, Ahmad became the PDP state chairman on September 23, following the resignation of Bala Mande, who secured the party’s ticket to represent Zamfara north senatorial district in the 2023 elections.
