Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, says parents should prevent their children from being used to disrupt Saturday’s LG elections in the state.
The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) will conduct elections in 44 LGAs on October 26.
Speaking with journalists at his palace on Friday, Sanusi implored residents to maintain peace and avoid violence before, during, and after the elections.
The Emir stressed the importance of shunning violence and any attempts to disrupt the elections, adding that residents should disregard miscreants recruited to cause trouble.

Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano state, had declared that the LG polls will be held despite a court ruling prohibiting the process.
On October 22, a federal high court in Kano restrained Sani Malumfashi, the chairman of the state’s electoral commission, from conducting the LG polls.
However, the Kano state high court on Friday ordered the KANSIEC to proceed with the elections as scheduled.
