‘Saraki as acting president’ and other Twitter reactions to Buhari’s five-day vacation

President Muhammadu Buhari handed over the affairs of the country to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, making the first time since 1987 that a president has officially handed over to his vice.

As military president back then, Ibrahim Babangida handed over power to his deputy when he went for operations in France.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, who announced the vacation, said Buhari would not be available between February 5 and February 10.

Being an unusual occurrence in Nigeria’s political space, the ‘twittering’ public has been responding to the news, with one particular tweet fantasising about Bukola Saraki as senate president should Vice President Yemi Osinbajo himself embark on vacation, within the five days of his acting presidency.
