Saraki asks ethics committee to investigate CCT chairman Umar over ‘N10m bribe’

Senate President Bukola Saraki has asked the senate committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions to look into a petition against Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Obinna Ogba, a PDP senator from Ebonyi state, had submitted the petition bordering on alleged corruption and abuse of office, at plenary on Thursday.

Umar is being accused of illegally demanding N10 million from one Taiwo Rasheed, a retired comptroller of customs.

Rasheed, who was tried at the tribunal for allegedly failing to declare his assets while in office, was said to have paid N1.8 million into the account of Ali Gambo, Umar’s personal assistant.
