Tribunal orders IG to produce Saraki in 24 hrs

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has ordered the inspector general of police to arrest and bring Senate President Bukola Saraki before it on Tuesday.

Danladi Umar, chairman of the CCT, had ordered his arrest on Friday but Joseph Daodu, Saraki’s counsel, promised that his client would show up on Monday but Saraki was still not at the tribunal.

In trying to defend his counsel, Daodu had said the CCT was not properly constituted, arguing that it must be made of the chairman and two members and not the chairman and a member as was the case on Monday.

On his part, Umar dismissed Daodu’s argument, maintaining that the tribunal is properly constituted.

‎She, however, added that the police would comply with the order when they receive the directive.
