Bukola Saraki, a former president of the senate, says the country is not giving the required support to talented youths in sports, especially in basketball.
Saraki spoke on Thursday during the finals of the Hilltop Pacers Basketball Tournament in the federal capital territory (FCT).
The former governor of Kwara added that Nigeria has an abundance of talent in basketball, and more can be done to get them to the pinnacle of the sport.
“For me, this is about talent seeking and helping a lot of our young guys do well,” he said.

“I believe that we have a lot of talents in our country, but we don’t support them enough. To me and my foundation – is to see how we can support a lot of you to get there.”
Earlier this year, D’Tigers failed to qualify for the Olympic basketball event of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The team missed out on the ticket after a disappointing disappointment at the FIBA Olympic pre-qualification tourney in Lagos earlier this year.

The failure means D’Tigers would miss out on the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008.
