Senate President Bukola Saraki has appealed to Nigerians not to read political meanings into President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow $30bn from external sources.
Speaking with state house correspondents after Jumat prayers, Saraki described the proposal as work in progress, saying that its rejection by the senate was not a reflection of the relationship between the executive and the legislature.
On Tuesday, the senate threw out the proposal, saying there was no vital documents to back it up.
However, the presidency said it would re-present it to the upper legislative chamber with all the vital documents.

When prodded to comment on the issue Saraki said: “I came here to pray, I have finished praying and I just had a general felicitation with the president. It didn’t go beyond that.
“We should not look at that as a reflection of the relationship. Don’t let us politicise very important issues. As we said this is work in progress.”
