Saraki had pledged seven times to release a breakdown of the national assembly budget, but he failed to fulfill his promise.
The budget of the legislature is opaque, despite having a huge share of the national budget.
There have been persistent calls by civil society groups for the national assembly to show transparency by opening its budget, which is in the region of N120bn.

However, Saraki has again promised to release the details of the budget when work on the national budget begins.
