YOUR SAY: Should PMB retain any GEJ minister?

Former President Goodluck Jonathan had a handful of ministers who were acknowledged to have performed. Now that President Muhammadu Buhari is getting his cabinet list ready, do you think he should go across party lines and retain any of the ministers?

Some will say Buhari should have nothing to do with Jonathan’s ministers since he came to power on the promise of “change”. In fact, some believe the PDP represents everything that was bad and anyone who served in that government should be thrown into the wastebin, no matter how good they are.

But others are saying, ‘Wait, you don’t throw the baby away with the bath water.’ Since Buhari is not discarding all the policies of Jonathan but, according to the PDP, is even taking credit for the benefits being enjoyed by Nigerians today, then maybe there is a case to make use of the best hands irrespective of their ties to Jonathan.

What do you think? Let us hear your voice!

  1. With the level of corruption that took place during Jonathan regime. no honest person will waited so long before he/she resigned. They are the bed of the same feathers.

  2. Honestly i don’t think Mr President should retain any of the recent past ministers – it will only be a case of new wine (his administration) in old wine skin (past ministers) they don’t have anything new they can offer again, just the same old propaganda which Nigerians are tired of hearing. It should be new ministers for new administration, so the two can grow up together and eventually be strengthened for progress. God bless the President; God bless Nigeria!

  3. It is disingenuous of TheCable to throw this sort of questions to the Nigerian masses. An average Nigerian has got a clue what is going or what goes on with governance never mind what those ministers in GEJ actually achieved. TheCable, you are asking the wrong people for their opinion, they simply haven’t got clues. On another note, I suggest you migrate you comment delivery to Disqus as it seems to be the most efficient and populates comments and replies quite easily. This is if you are truly interested in the opinion of your readers. Thank you.

  4. TruthIsAllWeNeed is right Nigerian public is the wrong place to reach for this kind of answer. But for my own opinion, we can not afford to completely change everything. We need continuity in order to retain goodwill, talent, expertise, experience and tradition to be passed to the next young people. We can not afford to keep going from the scratch.

  5. I think President can retain some but not on ministerial level. Someone like like Aganga is honest. We can not judge all the same.

  6. NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA (FINANCE), should be retained for a year or two, she is good, she just messed up.
she knows the job, not like other people dont, but right now she has the retrieve all the stolen money because she knows where and where they moved or transferred them too.

  7. He should look through their record of performance and retain good ones. Unless he is importing ministers from other country no need trying untested hands
