‘Scores killed’ as troops raid insurgents’ hideout in Yobe

Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed “scores of insurgents” in Gujba LGA, Yobe.

According to a source, the troops conducted a raid following a tip-off on the movement of the suspected insurgents on Friday night.

The security operation included officers from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as well as ground troops.

The suspected insurgents were said to have moved towards Talala, Mungusum, Abbah Bakari and Buk villages in Damboa general axis, while some were reportedly seen around Ngulde rock near Chibok.

Others were said to have been seen around Mandara mountain, Gargash, Izza, Bula Bakakai and Gobara camps.

The insurgents were said to have been attempting to flee to communities in Niger Republic along with some persons suspected to be their family members.

The military operation is part of efforts by the Nigerian Army, under operation Sahel Sanity, to address insecurity in communities in the north and along the Lake Chad axis.
