The Nigerian army says scores of insurgents were killed in a foiled Boko Haram attack in Arege area of Borno state.
Texas Chukwu, army spokesman, said the insurgents ambushed troops in the area on Friday.
He said the attack was repelled and some of the insurgents escaped with various degrees of injury.
“Unfortunately, six soldiers sustained various degrees of injury and are currently receiving medical attention at the military facility,” he said.

He said the troops recovered from the insurgents while three of their gun trucks were destroyed..
“The public is once again reminded to report any suspicious movements or activities in their areas to the law enforcement agents for prompt action,” he added.
