‘Scores of terrorists’ killed as NAF bombs Boko Haram enclave in Borno

Many Boko Haram insurgents have been reportedly killed following an airstrike by the Nigeria Airforce (NAF) in Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the terrorists suffered huge losses after a fighter jet bombed the camp of Ali Ngulde, a Boko Haram leader, in Gwoza LGA on Tuesday.

Military sources told the publication that many insurgents died while others escaped through the hills of the mountain.

The fighter jets were said to have fired several bombs and destroyed structures erected by the terrorists, including a building housing Ngulde and other top commanders.

The military sources said Ngulde escaped the airstrike to an unknown location.

The attack is coming hours after TheCable reported how fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were killed after military airstrikes hit their convoy.

During the operation, two Hilux trucks conveying an unconfirmed number of ISWAP fighters were bombed.
