Hassan Anthony, a member of the house of representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Anthony, who represents Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu constituency in Benue state, cited crisis in the PDP as the reason for his decision.
With this development, the APC now has 226 seats in the house while the PDP has 124 seats.
The PDP has witnessed a wave of defections in the legislature recently. At the senate, at least four of its members have left for the APC.

Since the PDP lost the 2015 presidential election to the APC, the party has been on life-support, stumbling from one crisis to another.
The former ruling party is torn between two opposing blocs – Ahmed Makarfi camp and Ali Modu Sheriff camp – over leadership.
For 16 years, PDP had the majority seats in the legislature.
