Officials of the secret service interrupted Josh Earnest, White House spokesman, during a televised press briefing on Tuesday.

Journalists were  escorted out of the building and cameras turned down, while men of secret service combed the venue looking for explosives with the help of a sniffer dog.

The evacuation came after Washington’s Metropolitan police department alerted the service that a bomb had been directed towards the location.

Reporters were escorted back into the briefing room after an all-clear signal was given about thirty minutes later.

According to Earnest, President Barack Obama and his family were not evacuated.

The incident happened hours after another evacuation at the Dirksen senate office building.
