Security operatives foiled an attack in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, on Monday, killing two female suspects.
Damian Chukwu, the state police commissioner, confirmed this in a statement, revealing that one of the bombers died after detonating her bomb.
The bombers had attempted entering the state capital through Mamanti village in Jere local government area of the state.
“At about 0510hrs, three female suicide bombers attempted to enter Mamanti village Jere local government area”, the statement read.

“They were intercepted by Civilian JTF. In the process, one of the bombers detonated IED strapped to her body killing herself alone. The other two tried to escape but were shot dead by security personnel on duty.
“EOD mine drafted to the scene to sanitise and render the area safe. Normalcy is restored.”
Suicide bombing is the greatest challenge of troops deployed in the north-east. Coordinated attacks by Boko Haram have been reduced to the barest minimum.
