Security blockade at emir’s palace has caused tension in Kano, says commissioner

Halilu Dantiye, the commissioner for information and strategy in Kano, says the blockade of the entrance to Kofar Kudu palace of Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, has caused tension and distress among residents of the city.

On Friday, security operatives barricaded the emir’s palace and cordoned off its adjoining roads.

In a statement on the incident, Dantiye said the Kano state government condemned any action that disrupts the peace or undermines the dignity of traditional institutions.

He added that the government is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the state.

Dantiye said the government is working to ascertain the reasons behind the incident and engage with relevant authorities to ensure a swift and peaceful resolution.

He advised residents to remain calm and law-abiding and continue with their normal daily activities.
