Security operatives have arrested Hamza Suruddubu, a “notorious arms trafficker”, in the Isa LGA of Sokoto state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, Suruddubu, who hails from eastern Sokoto, has been involved in the trafficking and distribution of weapons from Zamfara to terrorist strongholds in the area.
Makama noted that Suruddubu is believed to be a key supplier of firearms to notorious bandits like Bello Turji, Boka, and Halilu Buzu.
The publication added that he not only supplies weapons but also facilitates the provision of essential supplies, including foodstuffs and motorcycles, to criminal groups operating in the region.

Citing intelligence sources, Makama said some security operatives within Shinkafi and Isa LGAs may be complicit in the illegal arms trade.
“Community leaders and security stakeholders have urged law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate Suruddubu’s network and uncover the full extent of arms smuggling operations between Isa and Sabon Birni,” the report reads.
