Security operatives have rescued 13 persons kidnapped along Abuja road in Isua Akoko, Ondo state.
The victims were said to have been abducted by gunmen while travelling to Abuja from Lagos state on Tuesday.
The suspected kidnappers reportedly dragged the victims out of their 18-seater bus and marched them into the bush.
On getting the information, the security operatives, comprising police officers, soldiers, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Amotekun corps, went after the gunmen to rescue the victims.

“The joint security agents immediately embarked on combing of the forest and their efforts yielded fruitful results when some of the abducted travellers were rescued during the joint operation,” a source said.
Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Ondo police spokesperson, who confirmed the news, said the security operatives engaged the suspects in a gun duel, killing one of them.
“The victims were rescued by the joint security operation,” she said.

“One of them was killed during a gun duel. We are on top of the situation.”
