The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has issued a flood alert for 9 local government areas (LGAs).
The warning comes following the release of water from Dadinkowa and Lagdo dams.
Mohammed Goje, executive secretary of SEMA in Yobe, gave the warning in a statement on Tuesday.
Goje said releasing water from the two dams will exacerbate the difficulties faced by residents in the area, who have already been impacted by recent floods caused by days of heavy rainfall.

He urged residents in the affected areas to relocate to higher ground to protect their lives and property.
“Yobe has experienced significant flooding between April 15 and September 9, 2024, causing widespread devastation across several local government areas,” he said.
“This advisory serves as an early warning alert for further flooding due to the likely impending discharge of water from Dadinkowa dam, Hadeja-Jama’are river, river Kamodugu, and Lagdo dam in Cameroon.
