Senate holds private session ‘on ministerial list’

‎The senate went into a closed-session after resuming on Thursday.

Although,‎ the agenda of the executive meeting was not stated, it is believed to be connected with the outcome of the meeting Senate President Bukola Saraki and other  leaders of the national assembly had with President Muhammadu Buhari.
‎‎
After the meeting with the president, Saraki had simply said: “The meeting signifies a good working relationship between executive and legislative arms of Nigeria’s federal government, which is a necessity for national development. Additionally, the meeting demonstrates that the nation is working.”‎

The closed-door session is also believed to be an avenue for the leadership of the senate to prevail on the lawmakers to clear the ministerial nominees, considering the fact that some senators are challenging the nomination of Chibuike Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state.

In addition, four ministerial nominees – Audu Ogbeh, Chris Ngige, Udo Udoma and O‎gbonnaya Onu – were at the national assembly on Thursday.

‎They were seen interacting with some senators.

It is expected that modalities for screening the ministerial nominees will also be discussed at that the closed session.
