‎The senate has postponed the screening of the service chiefs earlier scheduled for Thursday to next Tuesday.

Bukola Saraki, senate president, had announced on Wednesday that the screening exercise would take place at the senate chambers on Thursday.

But a few hours, later‎ the senate leadership announced a new date.

‎The reason for the postponement, TheCable understands, is to afford the service chiefs and the senate president the chance to attend the pulling-out parade being organised by the military for Alex Badeh, former chief of defence staff.

The event, which is to officially send off the former defence chief, is scheduled to take place at 9am at Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

The service chiefs to be confirmed by the senate are Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, chief of defence staff; Yusuf Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff; Ibot Ekwe-Ebas, chief of naval staff, and Sadiq Baba Abubabar chief of air staff.

They were appointed on July 13‎ by President Muhammadu Buhari.
