Borroffice was in the town for his political campaign across the wards of the senatorial district.

Kayode Fakuyi, media aide of the senator, told TheCable that “yes, the senator was attacked in Owo, the venue of the campaign, Raheem’s Hall. He was attacked by armed thugs sent by governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The assailants freely unleashed ranging degrees and forms of violence on the people who gathered at the venue.

“Evidently, it was a clear assassination attempt. The senator escaped the assassination attempt by providence.”

Yemi Olowolabi, Ondo commissioner for information, described the senator’s allegation as frivolous.

“Its a blatant lie by the senator to blackmail the governor. What’s Akeredolu business with his campaign?” he said.

“Anybody that knows Arakunrin Akeredolu very well will know he is a man of peace, Ondo state has been peaceful for the past one and half years since he came on board because of his tolerance to those who belong to the opposition.”
