Serie A's Venezia FC signs Nigeria's Ebuehi on loan

Tyronne Ebuehi, Super Eagles defender, has agreed to join Venezia FC on a season-long loan from Benfica.

The newly-promoted Serie A side announced the deal on its official website on Monday.

“Venezia FC announces that today an agreement has been signed with SL Benfica for the passage to orange and green with the formula of the annual loan with the obligation of redemption in case of stay in Serie A of the player Tyronne Ebuehi,” the statement read.

The move secured a second consecutive loan spell for the Dutch-born right back, who spent last season with Eredivisie side FC Twente, where he scored once and provided one assist in 34 league appearances.

The loan deal comes with a clause that Venezia holds an option to buy Ebuehi permanently if they are not relegated from Serie A after the 2021/22 campaign.

The Winged Lions soared into Serie A after beating Cittadella 2-1 on aggregate in the promotion play-off finals.

They gained promotion alongside Empoli and Salernitana.
