‘Seven farmers beheaded’ as Boko Haram attack Borno communities

Suspected fighters belonging to the Boko Haram group have reportedly killed about 15 farmers in attacks on two communities in Jere LGA of Borno state.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the terrorist group attacked Molai Kura and Molai Gana on Thursday night.

The publication said the suspected terrorists beheaded the farmers working on their farm near Molai, on the outskirts of Maiduguri. 

“At least 15 bodies were evacuated this morning, the attacks took place yesterday (Thursday),” Zagazola Makama quoted Bukar Ali Musty, a top member of a vigilante group in the community as saying.

“Seven farmers were beheaded while working on their farmland and the attackers also slit the throats of eight other harmless civilians in their homes.”

Meanwhile, a trooper of Operation Hadin Kai has been injured during a gun duel with fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Domboa LGA.

Zagazola Makama said the ISWAP fighters attacked the Nigerian troops after running into an ambush between Azir to Wajiroko Awabrum on Friday.

The publication said while the troops were able to repel the ambush, one of its members was severely injured
