Seven residents killed, child injured as gunmen attack Plateau community

Seven persons have been killed, while two others sustained injuries following an attack on Danda Chugwi village of Jos south LGA in Plateau state.

According to NAN, during the attack which occurred on Sunday night, a woman and a five-month-old boy sustained injuries.

Musa Bagos, member of the house of representatives representing Jos south/Jos east federal constituency, visited the community on Monday.

Speaking when he attended the burial of the victims, Bagos advised residents to be more vigilant about criminal activities in their areas.

He also condoled with the families of the deceased, and expressed sadness over the continuous killing of members of his constituency by gunmen.

“Intelligence reports have it that the attackers threatened to attack the community before carrying out the dastardly act,” he said.

Bagos also visited Vom Christian Hospital where the two injured persons — a 40-year-old woman who sustained gunshot wound and a five-month-old boy whose right hand was cut off by the attackers — were receiving treatment.

The lawmaker also paid the medical bills of those that were injured.

On his part, Solomon Dalyop, national president of the Berom youth moulders association, urged youths to be on alert and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.

Meanwhile, Alfred Alabo, Plateau police command spokesperson, also confirmed that seven people were killed and two persons were injured in the attack.

“The DPO in charge told me that seven people were killed while two persons are receiving medical attention in a health facility,” he said.

“Since morning, we have been in Wase local government area to commission a police division approved by the inspector-general of police.”
