The Nigerian troops have reportedly killed several terrorists during a raid on their hideouts in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the troops of the 1 Brigade in collaboration with Operation Forest Yinzuya (OPFY) launched an offensive against the suspected terrorists on Friday.
The operation was said to have targeted several terrorist hideouts following weeks of intelligence about their activities.
Zagazola Makama said the troops, with air support, engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, resulting in casualties and the retreat of others.

An unspecified number of terrorists were said to have been killed in the raid while others were targeted in air interdictions as they attempted to escape with cattle.
The troops recovered three motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists.
On Wednesday, eight people were killed after an explosive tore through the Gusau-Dansadau bridge in Zamfara.

The deceased were reportedly commuting to Gusau in a Golf car.
The Zamfara police command said the members of the Lakurawa terrorist group were responsible for the explosion.
