‘Seyi Makinde, Uzodinma, Aiyedatiwa, Ododo’ — seven governors honoured at Independent Awards

The Independent Newspaper Limited (INL) has recognised seven governors, including Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, and Usman Odo of Kogi, for outstanding performance in their respective states in 2024.

Other governors recognised were Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo.

The newspaper recognised the governors on Saturday at its 14th annual awards ceremony held at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

The INL are the publishers of the Daily Independent, Saturday Independent, and Sunday Independent titles.

Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo north, Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development; and Heineken Lokpobiri, minister of state for petroleum (oil), were also recognised at the event.

Speaking during the event, Steve Omanufeme, managing director of Daily Independent Newspaper, said the awards recognise those who have made an impact in their areas of endeavours.
