Seyi Shay’s six-figure deal with Island records

Seyi Shay has signed a global recording contract with notable record label Island Universal Records.

The signing took place in London at the Universal Offices in South Kensington on Tuesday and Shay celebrated the event with her fans and followers on instagram.

Sources told TheCable that this deal is worth six figures in pounds sterling. She has already started laughing her way to the bank as the MTV award nominee for best female has already been paid an advance on the record deal.

The deal is said to encompass both production and marketing side which means her fans could be looking forward to some exciting collaborations with major international artistes on the label

Also, Shay would still own all the rights to her music in Africa and Island Universal will help the fast rising artiste effectively monetize her music throughout the rest of Europe and United States.

Island Universal Records is a major American record label that operates as a division of Universal Music Group. It was founded by Chris Blackwell, Graeme Goodall and Leslie Kong and has been based in the United Kingdom since 1962.

The label operates as one of Universal Music’s standalone labels since 2014, also handling Mercury Records.

The record label is home to a diverse and unparalleled family of artists such as Nicki Minaj, Taio Cruz, Enrique Iglesias, Calvin Harris, Leona Lewis, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and more.

TheCable also confirmed that the song that made it all happen was her smash hit song, Murda, featuring Patoranking and Shaydee. Executives of the UK record label were very impressed with the song and are working on an international re-release of the hit track in Europe and the United States.

Shay is having a big year with recent nominations in two categories for the MTV MAMA’s for Best Female and Video of the year for her song Crazy, featuring Wizkid.
