Sharks relegated, Sunshine denied continental ticket

Sharks of Port Harcourt have been relegated from the Glo Premier League after their 1-0 loss to Abia Warriors.

On the last day of the season, the coach Festus Allen-led side needed a win to avoid the drop but the loss saw them finish on 17th position with 45 points from 38 games.

Substitute Olaha Michael sent Sharks down with his strike in the 81st minute from close range.

They will now join Bayelsa United, Taraba and Kwara United to the Nigeria National League (NNL).

In Lagos, champions Enyimba denied Sunshine Stars a chance to play international football next year after they held them to a scoreless draw.

The banished side from Akure needed to win the game to stand any chance of playing at least in the CAF Confederation Cup next year but Enyimba’s keeper, Femi Thomas, was in fine form to deny them the opportunity.
