Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central, has accused northern elite of being silent on the killings in the region.
Sani made the accusation via his Twitter handle on Monday.
He listed three reasons that could have made the northern elites taciturn, saying it could either be as a result of the the fear of being seen as anti-government, belief that President Muhammadu Buhari is doing his best in curbing the crisis or as a result of their indifference to the plight of the poor.
“Northern political elites are silent on the frequent killings and kidnappings in the north out of these three reasons; FEAR not to be seen opposing the Government; BELIEF that the President is doing his best; INDIFFERENCE because it’s the poor that are dying.”
