Shehu Sani donates ‘N10m electronics’ to PWDs in FCT

Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former senator, has donated electronic items reportedly worth N10 million to the school for the visually impaired in Abuja.

NAN reports that the items presented include televisions, deep freezers among others.

“I visited the school for the blind two weeks ago and learnt that the school had been in existence for three decades,” he said.

“After interacting with management and students, I felt sad. It is understandable when elderly people cannot see. But, most pathetic when children become blind.

“As a child that is blind, you grow in an environment that you cannot differentiate between the colours of green, blue, white and red. That is the tragedy of life.”

He said the students requested for three items and that he will provide them in three phases.

The politician added that he was amazed by how young visually impaired children could watch television and that after a discussion with the management, teachers and students, he understood that the students will like to listen to sounds from the television.

He said the next phase of the presentation will be the provision of customised laptops and iPads for the school before they return from holidays.

“I believe in supporting the needy,” he said, promising to continue to support them even after their studies.

He thanked the federal government for establishing a school where people can receive special education and urged wealthy Nigerians to help persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“If you have God inside your mind, if you have human sympathy, if you have humanity in you, you should not see this as what you can wave off your face as sight is one of the most important aspects of human life after life itself,” Sani added.
