Shehu Sani says killer herdsmen are terrorists

Shehu Sani, lawmaker representing Kaduna central senatorial district, says killer herdsmen and bandits wreaking havoc are terrorists.

Sani said this on Twitter as he reacted to the widespread killings in parts of the country.

”Herdsmen who commit massacre in Benue and Taraba and ‘Bandits’ who commit massacre in Zamfara and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna are nothing but terrorists; except if we want to call a spade a pestle or a spoon,” he said in a tweet.

The latest of the killings took place in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna over the weekend.

At least 45 people were killed in the attack while many houses were reportedly set ablaze.

According to members of the Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, the gunmen came in from the neighbouring Zamfara state.

The tragic incident happened two days after Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, visited the area and ordered the immediate deployment of 200 police personnel to Birnin Gwari.

The security measure did not prevent the suspects from attacking the area.
