Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of Kano state, has lost his five-month-old daughter.
The five-month-old girl reportedly died on Monday in a hospital in Dubai, and has been buried in that country.
Sule Yau Sule, special adviser to Shekarau, broke the news in a statement.
“On a sad note, we wish to announce the death of the youngest daughter of His Excellency, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, a five-month-old baby who died today,” the statement reads.

He left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing “a lack of transparency and accountability” in the ruling party.
The former governor had said his decision was to satisfy the aspirations of the people of Kano who felt disenfranchised.
But in 2018, he returned to the ruling party.
