Ali Modu Sheriff, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday presented the flag of his party to Ademola, younger brother of the late Isiaka Adeleke, representative of Osun west senatorial district in the 8th assembly.
The flag presentation took place at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
Following the death of Isiaka, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed a bye-election for July 8, and Ademola emerged as the PDP candidate after abandoning the All Progressive Congress (APC).
After presenting the flag to Ademola, Sheriff urged him “to go and win the election’’, promising to be at the candidate’s flag-off campaign at Ede.

Addressing reporters after the exercise, Ademola said he left the APC due to “injustice’’ in the screening process for the primary.
Osun APC had claimed that Ademola was never a member of the party.
But the PDP candidate described APC as a party of liars, claiming that he won the party’s “first and second screening of aspirants for the election’’ but was denied.

“I was a PDP member before we had a little problem which made my late brother and I decamp to APC at the same time,” he said.
“Immediately we left PDP, they gave everybody a card; we registered, signed and showed it to the whole world.
“How can they come now and lie? They lied and they are shaking now.
“I was a member and I have left their party. That is not a party; a party that lied and not steadfast, thank God I am back home now to PDP.’’

Adeleke expressed optimism that he would win the election.
He added that most political parties, including the Accord and Labour, and people of the state, were in full support of his candidature.
