Shettima sure Boko Haram would be conquered

Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, has expressed optimism that Boko Haram will lose the war it is waging against the Federal Government.

Speaking in Maiduguri on Tuesday while addressing journalists on the kidnap of 234 students of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSC) in Chibok, he described the abduction of the innocent girls as a trial from God.

“But we will overcome it soon,” Shettima said.

“Our hearts go to the parents of the abducted girls, because it is a tragedy that has befallen all of us.”

He expressed optimism that the girls would soon regain freedom, as security agents are working very hard to rescue them.

“We are going to survive and rebuild our lives, because truth will always triumph over falsehood,” he added.

He maintained that the sect’s ideology is built on falsehood; hence, it will not stand the test of time.

In May 2013, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in the three north-eastern states where attacks were rampant, yet this has not quelled the killings.

On Monday, April 14, 2014, a car bomb containing an estimated 500-800 pounds of explosives blew up at the Nyanya District bus station in the nation’s capital, killing 79 people and wounding 180.

Victims and their families were still ruing the bomb blast two days later, when gunmen widely believed to be Boko Haram militants stormed Wala Village, some 130 km southwest of Maiduguri, the Borno capital, killing 18 villagers and injuring many more people.boko-haram-screengrab-abubakar-shekau-April2014-cnn
