Shina Peller partners CSOs to empower youths in leadership, entrepreneurship

The Lead Generation Initiative (LGI), a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young Nigerians, has unveiled its 2025 strategic roadmap to foster youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and access to justice.

Speaking during a news conference in Abuja at the signing of a partnership with the African Youth Entrepreneurs Organisation (AYE) and Call A Lawyer, Shina Peller, chairman of the board of trustees (BoT) and founder of the LGI, expressed commitment to the development of youths in the country.

Peller, a former member of the house of representatives from Oyo state, said the organisation’s mission is to cultivate a new generation of socio-politically conscious leaders dedicated to driving positive change in Nigeria.

Peller said LGI, established on January 21, 2020, has consistently provided platforms for youths to channel their creativity and energy into community development.

He said through its flagship programme, the ‘Get involved leadership training’, LGI has reached thousands of youths across various states, including 420 in Oyo state, 394 in Osun, 254 in Bauchi, 326 in Niger, 227 in Kwara, and 138 in Gombe.

The former lawmaker said the training sessions focused on equipping young people with leadership skills necessary for community development and national progress.

Peller said the LGI’s partnership with AYE and Call A Lawyer would enhance the organisation’s impact and reach.

“We partnered with the WE2GEDA Initiative to engage and hold the regional summits in all the six geopolitical zones, from Kano to Yola, Anambra to Uyo, and Minna to Lagos,” Peller said.

“We shall also be having entrepreneurship support initiatives in partnership with Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs (AYE), that will empower our members with startup support to enable them to become financially independent.

“This is among other internal opportunities that we will be providing for our members, like virtual training sessions.

“Our partnership with Call A Lawyer NG aims to empower young Nigerians by removing legal barriers that impede their civic participation, business growth, and personal development.

“Together, we will enhance access to legal representation, educate citizens on their rights, and advocate for a fair legal system.

“After months of internal evaluation, the board and management of the Lead Generation Initiative are delighted to announce a new phase of commitment to engage young Nigerians to become active citizens in their communities.

“We have also restructured the regional leadership, and just yesterday at the LGI general assembly, we have appointed twelve regional coordinators. Our goal is to ensure inclusivity, strengthen our community presence, and engage our members’ community for proactive community leadership.

“These critical actions are all geared towards our shared future, even as we unveil the LGI 2025 Strategic Roadmap, with the LGI regional leadership summits at the core of it. The summit is designed to take place across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

“Mindful of the challenges our country faces today, the regional summits will provide a platform and opportunities for young people to stand up, stand firm, and own up to the development process of our communities and country.”

Peller invited youths to join the movement, urging them to “stand up, stand firm, and own up the development process of our communities and country.”
